Research assistant at the laboratory of Prof. L. Kauppi, genome stability group in the Reseach Program Systems Oncology (ONCOSYS) at the University of Helsinki. In this group we developed an ex vivo protocol that predicts response to chemotherapy in ovarian cancer patients and that can allow us to identify new ways to exploit DNA repair deficiencies in chemoresistant en recurrent tumors.

Research assistant at the laboratory of Prof H. Jacobs under supervision of K. Holmström in Viikki campus of the University of Helsinki. Prof. Jacobs’ group recently generated mouse models that express the Ciona instestinalis alternative oxidase (AOX) and alternative NADH dehydrogenase (NDX). These models provide a unique opportunity to examine the potential of this novel approach in fighting neurodegeneration. In this group I am lab managing and participating in investigation the role of AOX and NDX in neurodegenerative diseases

Bioanalyst/ master undergraduate tranining at the laboratory of Prof P. Ojala and Prof T. Mäkelä in Biomedicum, Helsinki, Finland. The main focus was on v-cyclin a cyclin-D homolog and it role KSHV associated tumorigenesis. Where we studied the consequences of expression of v-cyclin in primary and immortalized human dermal microvascular endothelial cells.
Undergraduate training at VTT technical research centre of Finland, protein engineering group, supervisor Dr. H. Boer and Dr. A. Koivula. In this group I participated in the purification and mutagenesis of two chitinases, Chit33 and Chit42, from the filamentous fungus Trichoderma harzianum. We were particularly interested in the potential of these enzymes in recognizing certain animal-type saccharides of medical relevance.

Undergraduate training for B.Sc degree at the university of Groningen, faculty of medical science, group stem cell biology, Prof. G de Haan and supervisor Dr. E.J.K Noach. In this training I got extensive hands-on experience with mouse models. We assessed how bone marrow transplantation in mice was affected by prior chemotherapy since it has been reported that lymphoma patients treated with intensified cycles of chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation have a poor hematopoietic reconstitution.
