The Hubrecht Institute is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Presently there are 19 research groups with a total of about 350 employees and guest researchers. In addition to a highly interactive and international scientific environment, excellent research facilities are available for imaging and functional genomics. Moreover, several model organisms are present, including C. elegans, zebrafish and rodents. The institute is situated at the Utrecht Science Park. The Hubrecht Institute is affiliated with the University Medical Center Utrecht and has close connections with Utrecht University, e.g. in the graduate school Cancer, Stem cells & Developmental biology.
The group of Dr. Francesca Mattiroli currently has a vacancy for a
- full time (38 hours/week)
- to work on Mechanism of epigenome inheritance
- Starting date: as soon as possible
- Location: Utrecht Science Park, De Uithof
Description of the project
Proper inheritance of the epigenetic information during cell division controls cell fate and survival. While we understand how DNA is replicated in S phase, we lack mechanistic knowledge on how the epigenetic information, specifically histone post-translational modifications in nucleosomes, are propagated to daughter cells. The technician will use protein purification approaches, biochemical and biophysical methods to develop recombinant systems to elucidate the mechanism of nucleosome propagation during DNA replication. The successful candidate will work with a PhD student and a postdoc.
We are looking for a technician candidate with an HLO background who is highly motivated, skilled and a team player. The candidate should have a background in biochemistry and/or molecular biology. Experience with proteins purification is preferred.
Initially one year with a potential extension.
According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), depending on age and experience scale 7 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.
Please send your application including curriculum vitae and contact details of two potential references, before January 15th, 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org, stating vacancy HI-2017-25 in the subject line.
